e-Learning is 24/7 access to educational program materials, key resources designed for your own pace.

Locher has an online Learning Management System (LMS) that can provide you or your staff with a flexible and innovative approach to professional development.

Online learning is a different experience from the face-to-face training with which most of us are familiar to some degree.

e-Learning provides the opportunity to participate in online workshops and accreditation assessment for various qualifications and topics in a user friendly manner.  The system is tailored to track performance and ensure that the knowledge acquired is maintained whilst identifying any skills gaps.

The basic characteristics of e-Learning include the following:

  • 24/7 access to program materials and key resources;
  • Programs are cost effective as minimal time is spent away from your work place;
  • A computer connected to the Internet is the basic "classroom" which you are required to visit and work within;
  • Learning modules that can take place at your own pace and be completed in your own time, in the comfort of your own home.  All modules will tell you at the very beginning how long they are likely to take so you can plan and prepare for the time required;
  • Studies can take place anywhere as long as the learner has access to a computer with internet/network access;
  • Tools that include a combination of web pages (content), communication devices (discussion boards), quizzes and tests, supplementary readings (available to print online or download), and assignments that you can submit via email or post.  You then move to a Final Assessment, where you are scored and hopefully achieve a pass mark;
  • You receive the research in adult learning techniques through interactive learning and assessment exercises.

The advantages of the self-paced learning include the following points:

  • There is no instructor in front of you so you can take your time to grasp the concepts;
  • You can read the material as often as you want, rather than seeing or hearing it only once in the classroom;
  • You can spend the time you find is best for you on the content rather than being bound to the pace of the group.

Workshops currently available online are:

Manager as Coach

This program is one of Locher’s most popular!  Utilising e-Learning, participants will make a difference to individual and team performance through an understanding of coaching enabling them to be far more effective as managers and leaders in the workplace.

Participants are provided with a synopsis of coaching theories and techniques and will understand and practice how to improve productivity and motivation, encourage re-appraisal of past beliefs, present behaviours and future aspirations.

Giving and Receiving Feedback

One of the keys to being effective when providing feedback is to be specific about the type of behaviour that is being demonstrated and explaining to the team member what is good or bad about it.  This program provides participants with the necessary information to strengthen communications with one’s team in a far more objective and constructive manner.

The program will also equip the participants with tools to prepare for meetings which may prove to be difficult in some way, for example, preparing to discuss with a staff member unsatisfactory performance issues, an unsuccessful job application or a matter involving workplace conflict or grievance.

Time Management

Even with modern day conveniences, time is a commodity that is elusive to many.  This online program provides participants with the mindset to move forward in a manner which recognises that time management is really a self management issue.  Learn useful disciplines, tools and processes to deal with career pressures, lack of personal time, juggling other people’s demands, distractions and disruptions.

Current Accredited Qualifications available online include:

Certificate IV in Frontline Management (BSB40807)

The Certificate IV in Frontline Management (BSB40807) is the latest Frontline Management Qualification.  The program is designed to build management and leadership capability in Frontline Managers, Team Leaders, Supervisors and those responsible for managing employees on a day-to-day basis.
